Detailed itinerary for 10 days Uganda Safaris and Primate Tracking Adventure
Day 1: Travel to Murchison falls National Park
Have early breakfast and prepare for pick up from your hotel by 7:00 am Drive northwards on the Kampala – Gulu for approximately two and half hours and get to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Set out for a hike on the sanctuary to track the White Rhinos. In addition to the Rhinos, the sanctuary harbors several other wildlife including Hippos, Bushbucks, Oribis, and lots of birds. After close to two hours of trekking, get back on the road and get to Masindi for your lunch, thereafter, proceed to Murchison Falls National Park. Check-in at your accommodation, relax, have dinner and rest the night.
Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat ride
Wake up to an early cup of tea/coffee at 6:00 am and at 6:30 am set off for the game drive. Expect sighting of Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Giraffes, Jackson’s Hartebeests, Reedbuck, Uganda Kobs, Warthogs, lots of savanna birds and wonderful scenery. After, return to your accommodation for breakfast and lunch. Later set out for the afternoon Launch Cruise along the Nile to the base of the Murchison Falls. There are lots of wildlife sightings along the Nile, including, Hippos, Crocodiles, Buffaloes, Elephants, and lots of water birds. At the base of the falls, you can opt for the Launch and hike along the falls to the top the fall. You meet the driver at the top and transfer back to your lodge.
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Albert
Have breakfast and check out of the lodge at 9:00 am and travel to Hoima. You will drive along the Rift Valley escarpment and enjoy lovely views of the volcanic landscape and verdant countryside. Lunch En-route. Reach the lodge and check-in for the night.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
Have breakfast check out of the lodge and leave for Kibale National Park. The drive along the scenic Albertine rift valley continues. You will stop over in Fort Portal town for lunch before proceeding to your safari lodge and spend the day relaxing and enjoying the natural environment.
Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking Kibale – Bigodi nature walk.
Wake up to an early breakfast at 6:30 am, have breakfast, and transfer to the park offices for briefing. By 8:00 am you trek into the forest to find the chimps and sight a lot of wildlife. You will spend 1 hour with the chimpanzees, to see how they interact as you take photos. Return to the lodge for lunch. Later head out for a nature walk in Bigodi Swamp for the sighting of primates and birds. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and head for Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will get to the park in time for lunch. After lunch, refresh and later go out for an evening game drive while enjoying the breathtaking scenery of beautiful craters and lakes dotted across the lush landscape and spend the rest of the evening enjoying the beautiful nature across the park.
Day 7: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise in Queen Elizabeth
Wake up to an early cup of tea/coffee at 6:00 am and set out for an early game drive to see include Lions, Buffaloes, Elephants, Hyenas, Kobs, and Topis. The scenery is amazing with crater lakes and grassy hills. After, return to the lodge for breakfast. Relax, refresh and after lunch, set out for the Boat Safari on the Kazinga Channel that joins Lakes Edward and George. Get a chance of viewing wildlife including Hippos, Buffaloes, Elephants, Monitor Lizards and lots of water birds and wonderful scenery.
Day 8: Game drive (ishasha) and Transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park
Wake up to an early breakfast, check out of the accommodation and travel to the southern area of the park called Ishasha. This area is popular for the tree-climbing lions, and if lucky you may see them. Other big game in this area includes Elephants, Topis, and Buffaloes among others. Lunch in Ishasha; thereafter travels southwards to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Check-in at your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Gorilla tracking Bwindi and Batwa community walk
After an early cup of tea/coffee, pick a packed lunch, and transfer to the park offices. Meet with the rangers and assign a gorilla group/family you shall track. After a briefing, transfer to the start of the trek and head into the jungles. It is a strenuous trek but very ambient, with lots of wildlife sightings and wonderful scenery. When you locate the group, you are allowed not more than an hour to observe and photograph these great apes. Return to meet your driver at the starting point and transfer to the park offices once more to receive your Gorilla trekking certificate and thereafter transfer to your accommodation to relax, and later go for the Batwa community visit, later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Transfer back to Kampala / Entebbe
After breakfast in the morning, check out and drive back to Kampala. Lunch is en route to at Igongo cultural center. Another stop is made at the Equator point for some photo moments.
