Detailed Itinerary for 14 days Uganda Rwanda Combined Safari
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe – Kampala
Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, meet your driver or guide and transfer to Kampala, if your flight schedule allows, we will take a city tour around Kampala, take a city tour around Kampala city to view the Kasubi Tombs, Bahai Temple and Gaddafi Mosque. Dinner and overnight at Cassia Lodge/New Madagascar hotel. Meal plan: H/B
Day 2: Transfer from Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park
After your breakfast at your hotel of residence, transfer to the Fort Portal via Mubende. Expect lots of beautiful scenic views of tea plantations, pine and traditional homesteads. After lunch at Ndali Lodge, we can relax at the Lodge or take a walk to the crater lakes region for more wonderful views. Dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge / Kyaninga Lodge / Kibale Primates Lodge / Kibale safari lodge. Meal Plan: Full Board
Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest National Park
After your breakfast, set out to the Park Ranger Station for a briefing before you begin you’re tracking the chimpanzees. these delightful apes, more closely related to humans than to any other living creature, are tremendous fun to watch as they squabble and play up in the thick canopies. The incredibly diverse forest is home to over 13 species of Primates including the red colobus monkey, the rare L’Hoest blue monkey, grey mangabey, pottos, black-faced vervet monkeys, baboons and also bush babies.
A network of shady forest trails provides much to delight botanists and butterfly lovers, while birders are in for a treat with 335 recorded bird species-including the endemic Prigogine’s ground thrush. The elusive forest elephant, smaller and hairier than its savannah counterpart, moves seasonally into the developed part of the park, while other terrestrial mammals include buffalo, giant forest hog and a half dozen antelope species.
You will return to the Lodge for lunch and later in the. This Afternoon you will go to the Bigodi Swamp walk where you will spot birdlife species like the shoe billed stork, Dinner and Overnight at Kibale primate lodge / Kibale safari lodge / Kibale forest camp. Meal plan: Full Board
Day 4: Kibale Forest National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park
Set off to Queen Elizabeth National Park after your breakfast. Expect lots of game viewing en – route while driving through the western branch of the Great Rift Valley, the park is incredibly diverse in the type of terrain it encompasses. Later you will get to relax at Mweya safari Lodge poolside as you wait for Lunch and later you will go out for an afternoon Boat trip along the Kazinga Channel; famous for the highest concentration of Hippos in Africa alongside other animals like huge crocodiles, herds of Elephants and Buffaloes basking along the water shores, as well as 611 Bird species. The Boat provides a clear platform for photographs and observation. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge / Katara lodge / Bush lodge / Simba safari Camp. Meal plan: F/B
Day 5: Game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park
Wake up early to a fresh cup of tea or coffee and you will then set out for an early morning game drive along Kasenyi trail, a good chance to see the early morning risers as they roam the beautiful savannahs looking for the perfect prey. Return to your lodge for a full breakfast and get some time to freshen up and relax before another game drive in the evening after lunch your lunch along the Mweya Peninsula. As dusk falls, we prepare for dinner and a good night’s rest. Meal plan: Full Board
Day 6: Chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge
In the morning after your breakfast, we will set out to Kyambura gorge for a chimpanzee tracking experience. And return to your lodge for lunch. You will then drive to the Ishasha sector to view the tree-climbing lions. A unique species that can only be found in this part. After your adventurous game drive, you will return to your lodge, have dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Transfer from Ishasha Sector to Bwindi forest National Park
You will check out of the safari lodge after your breakfast and have a morning game drive before connecting to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest; home to Mountain Gorillas – Half of the remaining world’s total population. We shall drive out of the Rift Valley first and then travel through the Kigezi Highlands of South-Western Uganda, enjoying the most breathtaking scenery. Check Meal plan: F/B
Day 8: Gorilla Tracking Bwindi Forest National Park
After your breakfast, you will transfer to your headquarters for the briefing before your Gorilla tracking experience. Be sure to have your packed lunch before setting out into the thick canopies of the Bwindi Forest to track the gentle giants. Later you will return to your lodge for some time of relaxation and refreshments and later in the evening, you will get to enjoy a village walk to experience the typical amazing life of the locals around the park. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: Full Board
Day 9: Visit the Land of thousand Hills
Today we drive south to the Uganda-Rwanda border with the lunch en route. You will head straight to Volcanoes National Park. Upon your arrival, you will check into your safari lodge for dinner and overnight. Enjoy the scenery as we drive down through southwestern Uganda and come into sight of the dramatic Virunga volcanic peaks. Meal plan: F/B
Day 10: Gorilla Tracking Rwanda Volcanoes
Wake up to an early morning breakfast and after your briefing, you will set out to meet with the gentle giants after a full hour of observing them, you will find it almost impossible to tear yourself away from your new family that is a lot like you and me. Return to the lodge for some rest for the evening to revivify your body from the previous day’s exhaustion. Dinner and overnight. Meal plan: F/B
Day 11 and 12: Kigali City Tour
Drive to Kigali City; Rwanda’s capital after your breakfast. The journey continues through the rolling hills which characterize most of Rwanda. Dinner and overnight at Kigali Serena Hotel / Okapi Hotel. Meal Plan: F/B
Day 13: Departure
After breakfast, depending on your flight schedule, you will be transferred to Kigali international airport for your scheduled flight back home. Meal plan: H/B.
