Detailed Itinerary for 19 days Uganda Safari with Chimpanzee and Gorilla trekking
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe – Kampala.
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, meet your driver or tour guide who will welcome you and after making sure you got everything, you will start the drive to your hotel in Kampala for dinner and overnight. Accommodation options: Serena Hotel / Emin pasha / Cassia Lodge / Holiday Express. Meal plan: H / B
Day 2: Source of the River Nile.
After breakfast, you will be picked up by your driver to begin the journey to Mbale, Eastern Uganda driving through Jinja, the second largest town in Uganda. It is characterized by the Asian quarters, the brewery industries and the colorful gardens. You will visit the Source of the Nile on Lake Victoria, the monument of Gandhi and then proceed to the spectacular (Bujagali Falls) on the river Nile a few kilometers from the source. Optional; try the unforgettable emotion of white water rafting on the river Nile, which is one of the main attractions in Jinja. Lunch in the afternoon drive to Mbale for dinner and overnight at Mount Elgon Hotel / Mbale resort. Meal plan: F/B
Day 3: Sipi Fall Hiking safari.
The activities for this day start with a nature walk to the spectacular waterfalls on the river Sipi after your breakfast and with your packed lunch, we will set off to the starting point at Crow’s Nest, a camping and lodging site. You will see the caves, coffee plantations, matooke and sugar cane plantations along the way. We ensure that you have packed lunch for the day. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Day 4: Mbale – Murchison National Park
After breakfast, begin your journey to Murchison falls National Park with lunch en-route. The journey is quite long but rewarding as you go through the green countryside with typical Ugandan villages and farms. Dinner and overnight at Paraa lodge /Chobe lodge / Fort Murchison lodge. Meal plan: F/B
Day 5: Game drive and boat cruise on the river Nile
After breakfast, we will drive through the Northern part of the park for game viewing of various wildlife, enjoy taking lots of pictures and observe the various animals as they awake from their slumber, take a lot of pictures and later return to your lodge for a few hours of relaxation as you wait for lunch. After lunch, proceed for a two-hour cruise to the bottom of the mighty Murchison falls to get a good viewing of water as it escapes through a narrow gorge forming a great thunder. This is an opportunity to see the amazing hippos, Nile crocodiles along the riverbanks and other animals as they come to quench their thirst. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Day 7: Murchison falls – Kibale Forest National Park
After you have had your breakfast and checked out of the lodge, we will transfer to Kibale Forest National Park, driving Southwest through the Albertine Escarpment of the great Western Rift Valley, through Hoima and reach the colorful and beautiful town of Fort Portal, the capital of the Toro kingdom, situated in the shadow of the fabled Rwenzori ranges. In the evening you will set out for a nature walk at Bigodi to spot a variety of birds like the loveliest and rare shoebill, black and white Colobus monkey, Vervet monkey and so much more. Dinner and overnight at Ndali lodge /Kyaninga lodge /Kibale safari lodge / Mountains of the Moon Hotel /Chimp Nest. Meal plan: F/B
Day 8: Semliki Hot Springs
Today after your breakfast, we will visit the magical Semliki Valley National Park to view the magical Sempaya hot springs and view the different wildlife in Semliki. Later after lunch, visit the Kasenda Crater Lakes, which dominate all the areas with incredible panoramic views. Return for dinner and overnight. Meal plan F/B
Day 9: Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, meet at the Kanyanchu, where you will be briefed about the park and the dos and don’ts of chimpanzee tracking. After the briefing, you will enter the forest to begin the chimpanzee tracking while searching out for other primates like the black and white colobus monkey and many more. Return to your lodge for lunch, check out and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, a few hours’ drive of beautiful scenery. Drive through Gisenyi for an evening game drive to look for various wildlife and then proceed to your lodge, check in for dinner and overnight. Accommodation options; Mweya lodge / Katara lodge. Day 10: Game drive and Boat ride in Queen Elizabeth
After a cup of coffee embark on an early morning game drive along Kasenyi tracks and Queens’ mile in the park and expect to see different wildlife as they arise to start the day. Drive back to the lodge for a full breakfast and relax as you wait for lunch. After lunch, you will set out to enjoy the unique two-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel with the highest concentration of animals and birds. They are seen on the shores quenching their thirst. This launch cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. The prolific bird life is colorful and stupendous with well over 550 resident species. Drive through the Crater Lake region and later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: F/B
Day 11: Chimpanzee Tracking Kyambura Gorge
After your breakfast, drive to Kyambura gorge for a forest walk in search of the habituated chimpanzees and other primates. This gorge is 16 km long on the Rift Valley and 100 meters deep. The rangers will provide you with a walking stick for this trekking. With your packed lunch, drive to the Ishasha sector of the park, for a game drive in search of the rare tree-climbing lions found only in this part of Uganda, you will get to enjoy the landscape of the open savannah. Proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for dinner and overnight at Engagi Lodge / Mahogany Springs/Buhoma rest camp. Meal plan: F/B
Day 12: Mountain Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Forest National Park
After your early morning breakfast, you will transfer to the briefing point and get some briefing about what is expected of you when doing this activity and briefing from the guides before you set off for the mountain gorilla tracking inside the thick Canopy of Bwindi Forest. You need to carry lots of drinking water so you stay hydrated at all times as this can be an exhausting activity, the guide will brief you about other necessities that may be needed for this activity including a walking stick that will be ideal for this activity including a walking stick that will help with the slippery trails.
Be sure to have your packed lunch before you set off for a gorilla tracking adventure in the forest. After tracking return to your lodge for some refreshments, check out of your lodge and embark on a scenic journey to Kabale through the beautiful terrain of the rolling hills with a terraced landscape to Lake Bunyonyi, an area referred to as the (Switzerland of Africa). Day 13: Canoeing on Lake Bunyonyi (Switzerland of Africa)
After breakfast, we will start the day’s adventure with a boat cruise around the various islands for bird viewing and sightseeing. After fully exploring the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi, you will have lunch, check out of the lodge and depart for Lake Mburo National Park, the smallest savannah park but a unique one to visit, famous for its large herds of Zebras. Day 14: Best of Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, you will have a morning game drive in search of the beautiful impalas, zebras, cape buffalos, elands, oribi and topi. Return to the lodge, have lunch and after enjoying a thrilling boat ride on Lake Mburo, you may get to see the aquatic wild animals like hippos and aquatic birds. This park is also a very good opportunity for bird watchers, who will enjoy more than 250 species of birds found here. Day 15: Ssese Islands of Lake Victoria
After breakfast, drive to the Bukakata landing site to board the ferry that will take you to the Ssese Islands, an archipelago of 84 islands on Lake Victoria. After lunch, explore the beautiful Lake Victoria while looking out for aquatic birds. You will reach the beautiful bay of Lutoboka, in Bugala Island, for dinner and overnight at Ssese Island Beach Hotel. Meal plan: F/B
Day 16: Best Ssese holiday Vacation tour
After your breakfast, set out for a guided nature walk around the island, exploring a total of three islands with lunch in between. Return from your adventure to your hotel and get some time to relax on the shore while enjoying the warm evening sun. Later in the evening, you will be canoeing on the waters of Lake Victoria. Boat Cruise Adventure to Ssese Island with MV Vanessa
Day 17: Nature walks and Bugala Village walk.
Wake up to an early morning breakfast and go for a relaxing guided ecological nature walk in the uncontaminated forest on the Island. You will have an evening village tour on a motorbike, and you will visit the traditional fishing village on Bugala Islands and explore the palm tree and pineapple farms. Day 18: Transfer from Kalangala back to Entebbe
After an early breakfast, aboard the ferry and return to Entebbe town for lunch, drive to the craft market to shop for various souvenirs you will be taking with you back home, visit the botanical gardens and later retire to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 19: Travel from Entebbe to Ngamba island chimpanzee sanctuary
Today after breakfast, we proceed to Entebbe waterfront club and board a speed boat to Ngamba Island, the chimpanzee sanctuary. Upon your arrival, you will be welcomed by the day caregiver and you will rest at the resource center for a briefing about the rules of the site, later you will experience the midday feeding session, have lunch at the island and back on the boat to return to Entebbe with compliment entrance to Uganda wildlife Education Centre to view some of these rescued wild animals.
