Alongside the game drives, when you get to Lake Mburo National Park there are other activities to take part in for example the 1 or 1 and a half hours boat ride on Lake Mburo with scheduled times at 8:00 am, 10:00 am, 12:00 pm, 2:00 pm, and lastly at 4:00 pm, could go bird watching in Rubanga Forest found across Lake Mburo, Sport Fishing, among other activities in Park:
The National Park was named after a man who was known as Mburo. Mburo had a brother called Kigarama who was the older brother of the two and both lived in the valley together. Kigarama had a dream that it was going to rain so hard one day and the water was going to destroy their home.
Mburo the younger one of the two refused because he had just planted his crops, so he stayed behind as Kigarama left for the hills. A few days later, it rained as Kigarama has dreamed and the valley was flooded, killing both Mburo and the crop. That day on, the lake was named Lake Mburo. And just next to the lake is the highest hill which is called Kigarama Hill.
Lake Mburo is 10 square kilometers and 12.8 meters deep; the lake only has one inlet and no outlet at all as the only inlet is a river known as River Rizi. You will notice that the water is green in color, and this is because the lake has no outlet and also because of the animals that stay in the water for example the hippos, and crocodiles among others.
